Our Stylists' Submissions for the Dutch State Banquet (Part 2)
Good evening! We're back with Part 2 of our stylists' submissions for the Dutch State banquet in October. Once again, there's an array of stunning, glittering gowns and treasures from Her Majesty's jewel vault. It's been tremendous fun to see the choice of tiaras and accessories, and very interesting to see how those who chose the same gowns accessorised them differently adding their own twist. Tonight's post included the most popular gown of this year's styling season and drool-worthy looks perfect for a white-tie event.Carlie - Like Caroline and Beth, Carlie instantly fell in love with the shimmering tulle Jenny Packham gown from the SS19 Collection. Carlie styled it with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, Jimmy Choo Romy Platinum and Flamingo Ice Glitter Dégradé Fabric Pointy Toe Pumps and the matching Celeste clutch. Kate's Kiki morganite and diamond earrings and the Queen's Diamond Quatrefoil bracelet complete the look.
Robin Wright - In a sartorial nod to the Netherlands, Robin chose an embellished orange Jenny Packham gown. The product description has a royal connection: "In 1958, Queen Elizabeth banned debutante balls in the UK, and this break with long-held tradition inspired Jenny Packham to give her glamorous gowns an edge for Pre-Fall '17 - this style has tiger stripe tulle inserts." It's teamed with Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara, the Queen's Wedding Gift Bracelet, The Greville Chandelier earrings, a gold clutch and gold Louboutin heels.
Sonja from Bavaria - We have the Jenny Packham Scalloped Beaded Illusion Evening Top and a Tulle Skirt with a ribbon belt. The look is styled with Kate's Packham Casa clutch, LK Bennett Floret pumps and Queen Mary's Chain Link Bracelet. Sonja concluded with: "I know this will turn out to be a more unpopular choice, but I would have Kate wear the Cartier Halo tiara again. While many here are probably going for the more eye-catching, bigger tiaras, I would love to see her wedding tiara again, with different hairstyles."
Lacy in L.A. - "Though I pondered the sartorial diplomacy of orange, it just didn't seem to fit Kate's pattern of color. Instead, I settled on a regal midnight blue for evening gown perfection." The satin Reem Acra Draped Off-The-Shoulder gown would be worn with the necklace from the Queen's Dubai Looped Sapphire Demi-Parure, Queen Mary's Diamond Bar Choker Bracelet and Jimmy Choo Romy Crystal Starburst pumps. "The crowning glory was truly the hardest part of this styling, as tiaras seem so personal to the wearer. So, though I know full well that the Queen wore this very tiara to a Diplomatic Reception two years prior, I'm letting my sapphire heart rule over my head. Such a stunning piece requires a sleek updo. I favor Kate's hair pulled away from her forehead, so I'd like to see a similar style to the one she wore at the 2012 London Olympics gala. The makeup with this look was stunning as well! And, because life is short, my jaw would drop straight to the floor if Kate showcased the aforementioned jewels atop a pair of beautiful, silk white gloves."
Maria in Germany - "Since Maxima will probably go bold for this - her style is very colourful and with lots of prints, Kate should go bold as well." A floral evening dress with a silk train by Marchesa is styled with Reiss Athena Sandals, Rose Gold, Morganite and Diamond Earrings, the delicate Miadora bracelet and Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara.
Danielle - Danielle would love to see the Duchess wear Oscar de la Renta's Embellished Wool-Blend Midi Dress. The bold orange hue is a nod to the Netherlands. The dress is intricately detailed with shimmering black details. It's accessorised with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, Jimmy Choo Lancer pumps in black suede, Kiki McDonough Eden Citrine Flower earrings and the Bottega Veneta Knot clutch.
DM - The dusty pink Reem Acra satin gown with a crismon bow is described as "It's no wonder the designer's creations are such a hit on the red carpet. Impeccably cut from lustrous dusty-pink satin, it's darted at the bodice to highlight your waist before flaring out to a full, floor-sweeping skirt that's underpinned with layers of mesh to hold its shape." It's styled with the Bottega Veneta Knot clutch, Gianvito Rossi Portofino Sandals, Kate's wedding day earrings, the Queen's Quatrefoil bracelet and the Cartier Halo Tiara.
German Girl - "I picked a gorgeous orange Monique Lhuillier gown. It caught my eye because the colour is really unusual, but I am sure it would look so pretty with Kate's hair colour! Also, it is the official colour of the royal house of Orange and associated with the Netherlands." The strapless embroidered gown is teamed with orange pumps, a new designer pearl necklace with diamonds and the Asos Co-Ord clutch. "And I know that this is not a realistic tiara choice for Kate at all, because it belongs to Princess Alexandra and she probably won't grant others access to it, but I would love to see Kate in the Ogilvy tiara! It is such a beautiful and delicate piece and since this is design your dream look, I can wish for anything."
Little Miss Sunshine - "I am going for a dreamy look with floral appliques in lavender and silver hues." We have the Jovani 3D Flower Applique grey gown with a v neck and embellished belt detail. It's accessorised with the Queen's Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings, Jimmy Choo Emmie clutch and Kate's Gianvito Rossi Mila pumps. The look is completed with Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau, most recently worn by the Duchess of Sussex on her wedding day. Little Miss Sunshine adds: "In my imagination, Kate lets Meghan wear her wedding tiara and vice versa."
Couch Potato - A Temperley London gown described as "The opal-hued Jewellery Show Dress is the Winter '17 collection's most standout evening gown. With flared bracelet-length sleeves, the dress opens into a full panelled organza skirt. Inspired by a delicate antique fan, the intricate artwork uses fine bugle beads, folded organza flowers, crystals and stitchwork" would be worn with the Lotus Flower Tiara, a bronze Kotur clutch, Ralph & Russo Eden pumps and smoky quartz earrings.
Humphreys Girl - Humphreys Girl would love to see Kate wearing the Zuhair Murad Velvet-Trimmed Embrodiered Point D'esprit gown. It's intricately embroidered with multicolored flowers that look as if they're cascading to the floor. It's styled with Jimmy Choo Matilda Slingback pumps, the Lotus Flower Tiara, the Duchess of Teck earrings and an updo.
FLUSA Lady - Jenny Packham's sleeveless black Stella gown with sparkling embellishment from the AW18 Collection is styled with Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara, the Queen's Wedding Gift Bracelet and the diamond chandelier earrings Kate has worn on multiple occasions.
PegJ - "I chose an Erdem gown from the pre-spring 2019 collection, the floral print includes tulips - a nod to the Netherlands. It's paired with the Queen Mothers Cartier quintet bracelets, the Cartier Halo tiara and Kiki grace citrine and diamond round drop earrings."
Crowns Royalty - The Jenny Packham Blanche Platinum gown from the AW18 collection is styled with the Delhi Durbar necklace and matching emerald and diamond earrings from the parure. The Lotus Flower Tiara, a McQueen clutch and Jimmy Choo Romy pumps finish off the look.
Courtney from NC - "Dress: it is from designer Romona Keveza who Kate hasn't worn but this color is one she has worn more than once before and she wears it well. It isn't super flashy but that works for two reasons. The first is that she isn't going to be the center of attention with two much loved queens there, especially since Queen Maxima is an amazing state dinner dresser. Secondly it serves as a canvas for the most important part of her look: the jewels! The bodice would need a few slight adjustments to make it State Dinner appropriate and hopefully to work better with a sash and order." The gown is styled with Steve Madden Satire Metallic sandals, the McQueen Britannia clutch in silver, the emerald and diamond necklace Kate wore to the BAFTAs, the emerald jewels the Duchess wore in New York and Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara. To attach an order sash the Scroll Cambridge Emerald brooch is included. An updo and dramatic eye make up look complete Courtney's ensemble.
Erin NZ - Erin is one of many participating in 'Styling Kate' this year. She shared the following on her look: "For Kate’s dress, I have chosen the Jovani navy satin dress to set off the gorgeous King George VI necklace (without the drop), earrings and bracelet. For her tiara, I would have loved to see her in Princess Margaret’s ‘Poltimore’ – it is simply beautiful – but I’m going to settle for the Delhi Durbar tiara. It looks tricky to wear – so we would need some decent hair – maybe a french roll. Accessorising with her satin Anya Hindmarch ‘Maud’ clutch to match the dress, and bespoke navy satin Christian Louboutin ‘Sandale du Desert’." Erin would have the gown designed by Jenny Packham.
Joanne in California - "I went outside the box for me and styled Kate in this pretty orange dress with a nod to the Netherlands." The Black Halo Off-The-Shoulder pleated gown is styled with the Cartier Halo Tiara, Roberto Coin earrings (with Kate's hair styled the same as the model), Roberto Coin 18K Yellow Gold Symphony Braided Bangle Bracelet with Diamonds, Jewel Badgley Mischka sandals and a metallic Lulu Townsend clutch.
Anonymous - The black sequin sparkling Jenny Packham Vela gown with cape detail from the AW18 Collection is styled with Jimmy Choo Romy Viola Mix Speckled Glitter Pointy Toe Pumps and the matching Celeste clutch. Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik Tiara, Queen Mary's Floret earrings and Queen Mary's Diamond Bar Choker bracelet complete the look.
Inez from Sweden - Inez chose a princessy Paolo Sebastian gown with a sweeping skirt to be worn with Gianvito Rossi 100 crystal-embellished metallic leather sandals, the Jimmy Choo Ellipse Navy and Silver Coarse Glitter Dégradé Clutch Bag, Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik Tiara, the Queen's Diamond Chandelier earrings and wedding gift bracelet.
Court - "I'm assuming Kate and William will get a Dutch order if they participate formally. I'm basing my dress off of that and keeping it simple since an orange sash clashes with everything." We have the silver glittering Jenny Packham Apolla gown teamed with the Cartier Halo Tiara, Christian Louboutin Choca sandals, the Queen's collet necklace, the Greville Chandelier earrings and the Diamond Art Deco clip brooch to secure the Order of the House of Orange.
S from E - S selected the Rickie Freeman for Teri Jon Beaded Lace & Tulle Gown featuring a round neckline with sweetheart illusion and sheer half sleeves with scalloped cuffs. It's styled with the Lotus Flower Tiara (with Kate's hair worn half up - half down), Diana's Collingwood pearl earrings, the L.K. Bennett Sledge pumps in dark pink and a delicately beaded ivory Emmy clutch.
Fiona, NW England - "I would love to see her wearing the beautiful royal blue beaded evening dress and matching clutch worn in India in 2016 along with the tiara, earrings and bracelet from the George VI and Modern Sapphire Set." The bespoke Packham gown is a reader favourite - Tiara Watcher also chose it for her submission.
Anna Cecilia - Anna Cecilia's dream look for the Dutch State Banquet is the Roland Mouret Marilla Gown. Described as: "With feminine, capped sleeves, the stunning Marilla dress offers an alternative take on a classic shape. An angular, asymmetric neckline hints at Mouret's love of unexpected tailoring, complemented by darting to the waist that nips in the silhouette. A feminine fishtail hemline and an exposed gold zipper make for the finishing touches." It would be accessorised with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, Diana's pearl and diamond earrings and Queen Mary's Bar Choker bracelet.
Faye M UK - It's officially the most popular gown from our stylists this year - Faye is the fourth reader to choose the shimmering tulle Jenny Packham Windemere gown. The embellished gown is styled with the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara and Jimmy Choo Lancer Platinum Ice Dusty Glitter Pointy Toe Pumps.
SMP - "I decided to go for a very classic state banquet look with a white gown (that doesn't look to bride-like) and compliment its simple silhouette with dazzling jewellery." Like Anna Cecilia, SMP was taken by the feminine, capped sleeve Roland Mouret Marilla gown. "The simplistic yet elegant gown would showcase the Cambridge lovers knot tiara perfectly." The look is accessorised with the Queen's Quatrefoil bracelet, white patent pumps and a red clutch from Hobbs London.
Gaby, Malta - Gaby chose a cashmere blue Zuhair Murad gown. It is described as: "Inspired by classic childhood fairy tales, Zuhair Murad's Resort '18 gown is the perfect style for your special Cinderella moment. Made from layers of silk-blend organza, this light-blue design is intricately embellished with silver beads in a castle and star motif." Gaby notes the gown would have "some alterations as there is a castle beaded on the dress." It's styled with Jimmy Choo Emily sandals, The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, Queen Mary's Floret earrings, the Queen's Quatrefoil bracelet and Queen Mary's Bar Choker bracelet.
We'll be back with a bumper post for Part 3, featuring all the remaining submissions :)
