It now has a legal obligation to put its harebrained schemes to a public consultation.There is no legal definition of 'junk food'. The nearest approximation is High in Fat, Sugar or Salt, but this is a very broad category. The government doesn't seem to care about consumers losing out from a ban on buy-one-get-one-free deals (BOGOFs) and free soft drink refills.
It also wants to tell shopkeepers where they can and can't position their products. There is no end to their meddling.
